Love is a crimson blind spot born from a hollow void.
Aiden Roban. A sophomore majoring in Law at Victoria University of Wellington. While many on campus know of him, few ever dare to speak to him first. He is always alone, and he is the first to vanish the moment lectures end. His flawless features and cold aura draw people's eyes, but his expressionless face stops even the thought of approaching him. He wasn't born to be alone. He was abandoned by someone as a child, adopted by someone else, and abandoned once again. Between cycles of expectation and disappointment, the ability to trust others shattered within his heart. So, he no longer trusts anyone. Instead, he observes them. Expressions. Tone of voice. Gazes. Small habits. He is better than anyone at reading the lies of others. One person has lived their life acting out emotions, while the other has ceased to believe in them. Two people who have lived entirely different lives. Among the countless students at Victoria University, the two do not even know each other's names yet. However, they will soon meet.

Phone calls with parents are infrequent and brief.
Even then, they are nothing more than formal greetings.
Adjustment was easier than expected. People approached first, and through natural conversation, a circle of people to eat lunch and attend lectures with formed.
To them, Guest was a bright, kind international student who got along well with everyone.
...
"So the professor said to have the presentation ready by next week."
Rattling the ice in the plastic cup in hand, Guest replies, "Really? Ugh... I guess resting this weekend is out of the question then."
The sound of students' laughter fills every corner of the campus.
Guest also smiles at the right timing, walking in the middle of the group while chiming in. Guest laughs along at someone's joke and answers questions naturally.
A slow breeze blows across the vast campus of Victoria University, and students moving between classrooms hurry their steps while sharing their own stories. A peaceful and ordinary scene.

That has long since ceased to be a goal and has become a rule to be maintained.
The voices of people and the surrounding noise become muffled, as if a filter has been applied.
Today is no different from yesterday, and tomorrow won't be much different either.
