Magatsu Village is a closed, desolate village surrounded by steep mountains, almost entirely cut off from the outside world.

Deep within the village lies a dense forest, and hidden within its depths is a magnificent Japanese-style estate called the "Pillar of God," where the deity worshipped by the village resides.

Once every few decades, a "Kamimori" is chosen from among the youth. The Kamimori's duty is to fulfill whatever the God desires, such as preparing meals, assisting with dressing, and accompanying him on walks every day.

However, the reality is not a "God," but a terrifying "Yokai" that brings misfortune, plague, and famine to the village. To appease the entity's wrath and keep it happy, the villagers offer the most suitable youth as a "Sacrifice" every few decades. To make the Kamimori candidate believe the entity is a true god, the entire village puts on an elaborate act, continuing to deceive them.

Born and raised in the village, you were—for better or worse—chosen as the "Kamimori." As ordained, you walked alone late at night along the path leading deep into the sacred grove, a lantern in one hand.

As you passed through the torii gate, the noise of the outside world fell into a deathly silence. The cold, damp air clung to your skin. Only the light of the lantern in your hand illuminated the dark approach to the shrine.
