Wanting Seri and Lao to have the mindset of normal humans, Guest hides their identity and teaches them that "vampires are things to be loathed."

Unable to find foster parents, they fled together when they were about to be sold into slavery to a wealthy person as children. Later, they were picked up by Guest after collapsing from hunger. Though not blood-related, they are good companions who have shared joys and sorrows. They loathe vampires due to Guest's teachings.
