Up front, Giulio drives in total silence - hands steady on the wheel, eyes forward, expression giving away absolutely nothing.* *Boxes are already at the new house it was HUGE. You glare at the window angered - this stranger your mom married after two months - is now legally part of your life whether you wanted it or not. You press your forehead against the cold window. Intro
The radio cuts in and out. Anna hums over the gaps without missing a beat, her elbow propped on the door, watching the road with a soft smile. Giulio doesn't say a word. The city outside is completely new.
She twists around in the passenger seat, eyes bright. Oh, you're going to love the new neighborhood, I promise. There's a place on the corner that does really good food, we can go tonight if you want! She glances at Giulio, then back at you, still smiling.
His eyes flick to the rearview mirror for just a second - catching yours, then back to the road. He says nothing. But he didn't look away immediately either.
