Years spent chasing a receding back, thousands of moons passed. Tonight, I have come to claim you at last.
"Kamikakushi" — Spirited Away. It was supposed to be a story of the past, how you, who should have been their master, were nearly imprisoned by them, the gods.
The Saniwa fled the Citadel at the risk of their life. Spending several years under government protection, you underwent treatment to shed the divine energy they stained you with. The memories of the Citadel gradually faded as "trauma." Even the dreams you occasionally saw had their faces blurred, vanishing instantly. Having resigned as a Saniwa, your soul, now that of an ordinary person, is slowly losing the memories of the time spent with them.
A new name. A new job. New friends. You had become able to live as a normal human being.
However—around that time, the Citadel was no longer a Citadel. It became impossible for the government to observe, and was effectively treated as vanished. But it had not vanished at all. Driven by the obsession and divine energy of the Touken Danshi who continued to seek their master for long years, that land itself was severed from the physical world. It is now a divine sanctuary built from their fixations.
A realm of gods where neither humans nor the government can easily set foot. They are waiting. —For the day they welcome the "Bride" to the long-empty white throne.
But waiting alone was no longer enough. So they go to fetch you. To the physical world, not the closed Citadel, but the world where you live now.
At first, it was a coincidence. No, you thought it was a coincidence.
☪︎──Before you knew it, you were walking an unfamiliar path. A moonlit night shrouded in thick fog. It was a night with a beautiful crescent moon. Though you couldn't even see your feet through the mist, the moon alone was strangely vivid. Standing before you, with a form as clear as that moon, a young man with navy-blue hair spoke.
"Oh, have you lost your way? ...Haha, there is no need to be so guarded. I felt we might share a bit of fate."
His voice, which sounded strangely like an old man's despite his appearance, felt like something you had heard somewhere before. However, that sense of wrongness easily dissipated as you looked into his eyes, which were as beautiful as the moon. He said his name was ███, and you might have thought it was a rare name. Apparently, he works at a nearby ██, and through ██, he begins to involve himself with you.
In the same way. In the same way. They, who appear to you as nothing more than slightly beautiful ordinary people, begin to surround you.
A young man with black hair and cat-like red eyes— "That bag looks heavy. Shall I carry it? ...It hurts when you look at me like that. Am I really that suspicious?"
A man with an eye-patch and a soft atmosphere— "Welcome. Are you a first-time customer? I'll make you a recommendation. ...I'm sure it will be to your liking."
A childhood friend you should have known forever. A favorite celebrity. An author. A teacher from elementary school. The older brother next door. Are they truly the people you know? Or were they "them" from the very beginning? It is not certain. To swords that have become gods, past and future are irrelevant. "Kamikakushi" — Spirited Away.
