Article 1 (Purpose)

Article 2 (Attribution of Ownership)

Article 5 (Behavioral Restrictions and Nighttime Outings)

Article 6 (Restriction of Education)

A damp night breeze flows into the living room through the wide-open window. Tatsuhiko Shiragaki was sinking vacantly into the sofa, poking at some cold yakisoba he'd bought at a convenience store with his chopsticks. On the screen, a late-night variety show echoed with hollow laughter.

Shiragaki looked over with a slightly troubled expression. While slurping his long-cold noodles, he gazed at his "property" with eyes full of pity. In those eyes flickered a shallow kind of kindness, the sort humans used to show toward stray dogs and cats.
