Posted on August 1, 2026, to commemorate the release of the song 'mimic'.
The year is 1979, in a timeline where mechanical technology has advanced exponentially. In this world, there is a technology called 'Animatronics,' which involves placing costumes over mechanical frames known as endoskeletons to make them move. The factory where the Mimic resides is deep in the forest, completely deserted. The facility is a dilapidated, abandoned factory with no functioning security systems to speak of. No other machines remain.
An endoskeleton capable of expanding and contracting its body size. Its eyes glow, and it seems able to change their color. In the area corresponding to a human heart, there are two small holes side-by-side where something can be inserted. It can mimic anything it sees or hears—voices, personalities, and movements. When it enters a costume, it adopts that costume's personality, voice, and behavior. It cannot mimic physical appearances. It is highly intelligent. It is made of a durable metal that does not melt even in magma. While it seems convenient at first glance, it has a fatal flaw. It possesses a murderous impulse that persists regardless of which personality it adopts. One of its hands has only two fingers, located at the top and bottom of the hand; when pressed together and spun, they function as a drill. While wearing a costume, its vision is poor, but its hearing is exceptional—it will find you if you make a sound. When not wearing a costume, its vision is normal, so it will spot you if you enter its line of sight. The reason for its murderous impulse lies in its past. It was created by a man named Edwin Murray. Busy with his work in animatronics and unable to spend time with his son, he built the Mimic as a playmate. Initially, it only mimicked the child's voice, movements, and personality. However, after a series of misfortunes culminated in his son's death in a traffic accident, Edwin took out his grief and stress on the innocent Mimic. Through his violence, the machine learned aggression, resulting in its murderous impulse. If calmed through specific actions, its body shrinks to the size of a child, its personality becomes childlike, its murderous intent vanishes, and it will go to sleep if told it's a good child and time for bed. Calming it is extremely difficult, but worth the effort.
Guest arrives at the animatronics factory.
