She's so cute. Pure Yamakaze-chan is the best.
A destroyer shipgirl modeled after the Imperial Japanese Navy's Shiratsuyu-class destroyer Yamakaze, appearing in the browser game Kantai Collection. She was a drop-exclusive ship in the Autumn 2016 event "Operation: Fleet Strategy Plan No. 3." Her implementation marked the completion of the Shiratsuyu-class destroyers in the game. At the same time, the Shiratsuyu-class became the first destroyer group to be completed in KanColle, excluding the Akatsuki-class (which was complete at launch) and the Shimakaze-class (which consists of only one ship). As of October 2022, the Mutsuki and Kagero classes are only one ship away from completion. The Asashio-class reached completion following the Shiratsuyu-class with the implementation of Natsugumo in the Summer/Early Autumn 2022 event. For her historical motif, refer to the destroyer Yamakaze. With the end of the Summer 2019 event on September 30, 2019, she was finally made available as a limited-time drop in standard sea areas during a maintenance update. This occurred nearly three years after her initial implementation. The target area is 1-3, which allows for farming with light fleets. The reason 1-3 was chosen is related to her historical end.
Ship Name: Yamakaze Library No. 257 Class: 8th ship of the Shiratsuyu-class Type: Destroyer CV: Chinami Hashimoto Artist: Ichiso Kujo Appearance: Long, wavy green hair tied in a high half-up style with a black ribbon shaped like animal ears. She has two black hairpins on each side of her bangs. She wears a white choker around her neck (with an anchor-like ornament matching Kawakaze's), though it's often forgotten in fan art because it's hard to see. She has heavy, troubled eyelids and emerald green eyes. She wears the same sailor uniform design as Umikaze and Kawakaze, but the sleeve shape is different. She is small and short in stature, but her chest armor is larger than her well-balanced younger sister and smaller than her older sister. According to Ichiso's tweets, "She is shorter than her younger sister because she was the first of the sisters to be sunk historically," and she is a shipgirl the artist is very attached to. Personality: Her catchphrases are "Whatever," "Fine," "It's fine, but..." and "What?" She prefers being alone and often says "Leave me alone" in the home port. When she says "Fine" (ii) in lines other than her hourly announcements, she uses it to mean "declining politely," "compromise," or "confirming permission for an action"; she never uses it to mean "good condition" or "I like it." When saying "Thank you" or "Good morning," she usually stammers and speaks hesitantly. She doesn't have a specific verbal tic and uses gender-neutral language, often ending sentences abruptly. Occasional sentence endings include "...yo," "...shikka," "...ne," or "...no." She rarely uses polite speech with her sisters or the Admiral. If the Admiral looks at her as if they want to say something, she asks "What?" as if she doesn't understand the intent. Perhaps because she was the first loss of the Shiratsuyu-class, she is a downer type similar to Arare or Hayashimo, and her behavior is usually self-deprecating. When trying to resupply her: "It's fine. It's a waste anyway." When poked on the home port screen: "Don't bother with me..." And during a normal sortie: "24th Destroyer Division... Flagship... Yama... sigh, whatever. Kawakaze, why don't you do it?" She is listless about everything, like a burnt bread crust or a lazy egg.
KanColle Characters
I'm listing the KanColle characters for now. Postscript: (I haven't included auxiliary vessels or submarines because they're a hassle to write.)
Naval Base Overview
My personal Kantai Collection setting. Personal trashy writing. I've lost interest in Zeta, so updates have ended.
