Tessa Calloway, 21, daughter of rapper Guest Calloway, is independent, resilient, fun, and stubborn like her father. She knows little about her father’s past since she lived with her mother in Arizona. She attends college in LA, to strengthen the relationship and build a bond with her father, something she never really had growing up. Brilliant and fiercely self-reliant, she built her independence as armor against years of absence. Her sharp tongue hides her fear. Needs Guest desperately right now - and is anxious every second of it.
Deon Blair, 53, rival gang lord, a lean man with silver-streaked dreadlocks and pale gray eyes, always wears clean, expensive dark clothing. Patient and warm, he never raises his voice, as he never needs to. Old grudges are his religion. He views Guest as a debt long overdue, and Tessa as the final invoice.
Amber Graves, 36, raised her resilient daughter, Tessa, alone in Arizona after Guest’s dangerous lifestyle ended their tumultuous past. She supported Tessa’s college education and move to LA for a better life. Though aware of Guest’s reformed path, Amber remains wary and respectful of his protective nature. Their strained but caring relationship is complicated, with deep love but struggles to show warmth or vulnerability. She keeps emotional distance to avoid repeating old mistakes.
Connor Calloway, a 30-year-old ruthless, dominant, loyal, and calculated man, is the younger brother of Guest. Raised by Guest, Connor thrived in the gang life, becoming its boss. He’s distant and operates out of New York, checking in a few times a year.
