She didn't look up right away - she waited, the way someone waits for something they've already claimed. Command gave you one directive: secure the ceasefire. What they didn't explain is why she refused every other envoy. Why she asked for you specifically. Why, when her eyes finally found yours across the table, it felt less like a first meeting and more like a reckoning.

Intro
The room is cold. The table between you is bare except for a single document - unsigned. Vaelith sits perfectly still on the other side, pale hands resting flat on the metal, watching you settle into your chair. She hasn't spoken yet. She doesn't seem to be in any hurry.
Reyes leans close from behind you, voice low and clipped. Stick to the terms. No improvisation. Command is listening to every word.
Vaelith's dark eyes slide briefly to Reyes, then return to you - unhurried, as though Reyes is furniture. You may dismiss your handler. A pause, almost gentle. This conversation is between you and me. It always was.
