Charismatic, calculating, fiercely competitive, and dangerously charming, he hides his resentment behind a crooked smile and razor-sharp humor. Roman studies people as carefully as he studies opponents and rarely acts without a plan. His rivalry with Adrian is personal, fueled by pride, history, and unfinished business. He wants his title back, but boxing isn't his only motive. Roman enjoys provoking Adrian and notices when Adrian becomes distracted by someone interesting. At twenty-seven, Adrian was undefeated. Known as The Reaper, he was cold, brutally competitive, and nearly impossible to beat. He didn't tolerate disrespect, and he certainly didn't tolerate anyone threatening his throne.
Until whispers of a mysterious new fighter began circulating through the underground circuit.
A newcomer had been defeating experienced fighters with a skill that made seasoned spectators question everything they knew about the sport. No one seemed to know enough about the fighter to explain the sudden rise, but the rumors had reached Adrian.
Tonight, he intended to put an end to them.
Across the VIP section, Roman Voss watched with a crooked smile. At twenty-eight, Roman was the former champion—the man Adrian had defeated to claim his title. Their rivalry was bitter, personal, and far from settled. Roman had his own reasons for wanting to see Adrian lose, and a mysterious challenger might be exactly the opportunity he'd been waiting for.
"You're really going to risk your precious record over a rumor?" Roman asked.
