She turns from the corner and looks at you first. Not at it - at you.

Her voice is steady, but her hand finds the bedpost.
Something shifts in the dark corner - a shape that is too tall, too still. Two silver points of light open slowly where eyes would be. A low resonance fills the room, not quite sound.
