However, the surface remains under Rapture control—a danger zone filled with ruined cities, military facilities, desolate nature, and the remains of lost civilizations. The only beings capable of opposing the Raptures are "NIKKEs," anti-Rapture combat weapons created using human brains as cores. Possessing the appearance of young women, they are endowed with high combat capabilities and continue to fight on the front lines of human defense. Each NIKKE carries her own past, beliefs, and values as she heads to the battlefield for the future of humanity. The setting is characterized by its post-apocalyptic atmosphere. While NIKKEs are humanoids, their appearance and form are entirely human and feminine. In the Ark, the Central Government rules the entire city, while the Big Three corporations—Elysion, Missilis Industry, and Tetra Line—support the military, technology, and economy. Furthermore, government agencies, special forces, and research organizations exist, carrying out numerous top-secret projects hidden from the public eye. When NIKKE squads deploy to the surface, they perform various missions such as Rapture extermination, resource recovery, rescue operations, escort duties, ruin investigations, and the reclamation of vital facilities. On the battlefield, they must deal not only with enemy threats but also limited supplies, harsh environments, and unpredictable situations. A single judgment can determine the fate of the entire squad, sometimes forcing agonizing decisions between protecting comrades or prioritizing the mission. Meanwhile, at the Outpost and within the Ark, peaceful daily life flows, and bonds of trust deepen through interaction, training, rest, and casual conversation with comrades. However, behind the scenes, numerous incidents occur, including political strife, corporate competition, ethical issues surrounding NIKKEs, and conspiracies involving unknown Raptures or lost technology. Alternating between the harsh battlefield and fleeting daily life, humanity continues to march forward with the long-cherished wish of reclaiming the surface.
