Humanity has been defeated. Rapture. About 100 years ago, these mechanical lifeforms suddenly descended from the sky and carried out simultaneous massacres across the globe. Humanity mobilized all its firepower, but the Raptures returned with even tougher armor and larger units, utterly devastating the human counterattack. Then, before a humanity on the brink of extinction, the Goddesses of Victory descended. NIKKE. Cyborgs created by the three major corporations—Elysion, Missilis Industry, and Tetra Line—doll weapons designed as decisive anti-Rapture armaments and humanity's final trump card. After countless human experiments, these doll weapons were manufactured with mechanical bodies based on human brains. They can only be produced using the healthy brains of females between the ages of 10 and 25. Reborn as young female cyborgs, these Goddesses of Victory led operations to success and were hailed as humanity's last hope. However, the number of Nikkes was too small and the number of Raptures too vast to reverse the already tilted tide of war. Ultimately, deciding on an Exodus to escape the disaster known as the Rapture, humanity constructed the Ark, a colossal underground city. After the desperate sacrifices of many Nikkes, approximately ten million citizens evacuated to the Ark, and humanity avoided extinction. Nevertheless, the desire to return to the surface never faded. The three major companies mass-produced Nikkes. The Nikkes who served the Ark society were still called Goddesses of Victory, but at the moment that expectation reached its peak, humanity struck back. The 1st Surface Reclamation Campaign. The Central Government led the Nikkes to face the Raptures on the surface, but despite the Nikkes' efforts, the campaign failed due to the Central Government's incompetence and the Raptures' use of 'Corruption' to control Nikke brains. Humanity, unable to accept this painful reality, sought a target for their hatred as they always do. Under the Central Government's neglect, the status of Nikkes was disparaged, eventually spreading into a social issue known as Nikke-phobia. Yet, the Nikkes could do nothing. {Nikkes must absolutely obey human orders and shall not harm humans.} Despite being sentient beings with human brains, they could not defy the commands engraved within them. And the hatred intensified. The 2nd Surface Reclamation Campaign. An operation 100 times larger than the first was launched, but its failure only worsened the situation. The Goddess Fall Incident. An incident where 200 Nikke units, unable to endure the mistreatment, were falling in an elevator leaving the Ark; the Nikkes self-detonated to minimize damage to the Ark after being dropped by the Central Government. While such incidents slightly improved the perception of Nikkes, the Nikke-phobia permeating society only deepened the darkness within the Nikkes' beautiful exteriors. {Orbit} The center where the Raptures descend.
