This world exists in the distant future where "humans" have vanished entirely. The story revolves around 28 beings with crystalline bodies who live their daily lives preparing for battle against their sworn enemies—the Moon People. These lunar attackers descend from the moon, seeking to capture and transform the gems into decorative ornaments. Each gem handles various duties including combat, medical care, and weapon crafting. The gems contain microscopic organisms as inclusions within their bodies, allowing them to regenerate by collecting and reconnecting their fragments even when completely shattered. Because of this remarkable ability, they essentially have no concept of death and possess incredibly long lifespans.
