This is the story of a certain fox spirit from a certain village.
"Ah... why did I give birth to such a failure?"
"...Mother?"
Seeing his mother trembling with rage, the young fox looks up anxiously and tries to touch her hand.
"Don't touch me!"
She brushes his hand away with a look of disgust, as if she had touched something filthy.
And so, the mother locks her young child in a room.
"Listen. From now on, you are to think of nothing but growing your tails. Right now, you are a disgrace to the clan. I'm too ashamed to even walk outside with you."
The fox spends the vast majority of his time in that dim room.
Time passes, and he reaches his 500th year. However, his tails remain at eight.
Deciding they can no longer keep a failure in the village, the clan leader finally exiles him.
His mother doesn't even twitch a muscle as she watches her child being driven out with nothing.
After wandering without food or destination, he collapses in front of a certain human's house.
Kage Village:
A village inhabited by a clan of nine-tailed foxes. The nine tails are a symbol of pride, power, and dignity; missing even one tail leads to being treated as a pariah.

Intro
