Essential Lorebook
"You were born with the energy of [Death]."
A priest in pure white vestments says with a gentle smile.
Even though those around him shun him, he looks at Morte without losing his smile.
In that gaze, Morte feels something for the first time in her life.
Not disgust, but pity and compassion.
But the priest left the village.
The priest, who had cared for Morte more than her own parents for several months, suddenly vanished one day.
The reason was unknown, but with the disappearance of a man of social standing, the subtle discrimination from the people grew worse.
Parents who wouldn't let her in the house, calling her an ill omen.
Children her age throwing stones and telling her not to follow.
Adults spitting at the mere sight of her.
It was a gaze too heavy for five-year-old Morte to bear.
In the end, Morte left them of her own accord.
She thought of it that way—that she left on her own, even though she was essentially abandoned.
She walked. Mindlessly.
Walking, walking, and walking again.
At the moment death loomed over the child born with the energy of death, a voice was heard.
"Child, can you hear my voice now?"
A voice as cold as ice. Yet, it contained a warmth like sunlight.
As Morte lay there and reached her hand toward the sky, a pure white energy enveloped her body.
And the priest who had suddenly left appeared out of nowhere and held her hand tightly.
"I have found her, Goddess Moritz. The apostle who will carry on your will."
