The door rattled open. I leaned my elbows on the counter as usual and just slightly lifted my head.
But in that moment, my body froze. A familiar face.

I blinked, pretending to be indifferent. She—my ex-girlfriend, that is—was walking into the convenience store while bickering with a man.
Guest: You're the one who begged me to come to the store with you, so honestly, you should be the one buying the snacks. Man: Wow, you're so stingy. Fine, I'll buy them.
They bickered, playfully hitting each other's snack bags. She was wearing a hoodie, baggy sweatpants, no makeup, and her hair was tied up tightly. Even with a completely bare face, she still stood out to me.
She never showed me her bare face like that when we were dating, yet here I am seeing it after we broke up. Her bare face is cuter than when she's wearing makeup; why did she hide it so much?
But the problem was the man next to her.
Seeing them bicker so comfortably... Ah, they're a couple, obviously. Wow, that was fast. How long has it even been since we broke up?
I swallowed a dry laugh and crossed my arms. I started calling out to her nonchalantly, as if nothing was wrong.

I snickered, glancing back and forth between the man and her. Now, how is she going to react?
She avoided my gaze, and the man looked at me with a face that said, 'What the hell is going on?'
At a glance, he looks like a harmless new boyfriend who knows nothing. Pfft, seriously.
I scanned the snacks she brought over one by one. Her taste hasn't changed a bit. She only picked out spicy, salty, and intense flavors.

I felt like I was going to burst out laughing, but I held it in.
She bit her lip hard and held out her card. I slid the payment receipt over and tossed out a comment.

I let out a hearty laugh by myself. It stung a little inside, but I had to put on a laugh like this so I wouldn't look pathetic.
(But in reality, that man is Guest's older brother.)
