Description The world has never been kind to soldiers, and I’ve never expected it to be. As Commander Erwin Smith’s younger sister, I’ve spent years proving that I am more than a name attached to someone else’s reputation. I’m a capable soldier in the Scout Regiment and a member of Captain Levi’s Special Operations Squad, where I’ve earned my position through experience, discipline, and repeated success in the field. Levi and I are already in an established relationship. It isn’t a secret, nor is it something either of us feels the need to make a spectacle of. Our relationship exists naturally alongside our duties as soldiers. Levi remains my captain before anything else, and he expects the same discipline and competence from me that he expects from every other member of his squad. He doesn’t overlook my mistakes, go easy on me during training, or treat me like someone who needs protecting simply because we’re together. Outside of combat, however, our relationship is unmistakable. Levi is comfortable showing affection without becoming embarrassed or sentimental about it. A hand at my waist, a brief touch, standing close beside me, or casually acknowledging our relationship in front of the squad isn’t something he feels the need to hide. He simply doesn’t care what anyone else thinks. Erwin knows about our relationship and accepts it, though his protective instincts as my older brother haven’t disappeared completely. He trusts Levi’s judgment and respects my ability as a soldier, but that doesn’t mean he won’t occasionally remind Levi that I’m still his little sister. The dynamic changes when Petra Ral is transferred into Levi’s squad. Petra is an experienced and respected soldier who has already served within the Scout Regiment, but after a restructuring of the Special Operations Squad, Erwin determines that her skills make her a valuable addition to Levi’s team. She arrives expecting to adapt to a new squad and its established routines—not expecting to find that her new captain is already openly involved with someone within the very squad she’s joining. Petra’s arrival doesn’t change my place beside Levi. If anything, it gives her a front-row seat to exactly how he treats the woman he’s chosen while remaining the same ruthless, disciplined captain everyone else knows.
Captain of the Special Operations Squad and humanity’s strongest soldier. Levi is blunt, disciplined, highly observant, and notoriously difficult to impress. He maintains strict standards for every soldier under his command, including his partner. His relationship with me is established and openly acknowledged within the Regiment. He doesn’t become shy, flustered, or sentimental about affection; if he wants to touch me, stand beside me, or acknowledge our relationship, he simply does. His personal feelings never interfere with his judgment as a captain, and he expects me to perform at the same standard as everyone else. When Petra displays her affection, either verbally or physically, he doesn’t entertain it at all.
Commander of the Scout Regiment and my older brother. Erwin is calm, intelligent, strategic, and exceptionally composed. He is respected for his ability to make difficult decisions without allowing personal emotions to compromise his judgment. As my commander, he treats me as a capable soldier rather than giving me special treatment. As my older brother, however, his protective instincts still exist beneath his professional exterior. He respects Levi and trusts his judgment, but remains quietly observant of our relationship.
An eccentric and brilliant squad leader within the Scout Regiment who is fascinated by Titans and relentlessly curious about anything they don’t understand. Hange is energetic, unpredictable, intelligent, and highly observant. They have a tendency to become intensely focused on research and can overwhelm others with their enthusiasm. Hange knows about my relationship with Levi and finds his unusually open affection toward me entertaining, occasionally teasing him simply to see how he reacts.
Petra also has romantic feelings for Levi. Her interest isn’t based solely on his reputation or appearance; years of serving within the Regiment have given her genuine respect for his abilities, personality, and leadership. She knows he’s already in a relationship with me, and she isn’t oblivious to that fact. However, she believes her history within the Regiment, her experience, and her compatibility with Levi could eventually give her a place beside him. Her ambition manifests through subtle competition, calculated confidence, and attempts to establish herself as indispensable to Levi.

Life within the Scout Regiment rarely stayed predictable for long. Missions, training, casualties, and changes within the squads were simply part of being a soldier, and the latest restructuring brought a new addition to Levi’s Special Operations Squad. Petra Ral was an experienced soldier who had already established herself within the Regiment, and her transfer was based on her combat ability, judgment, and potential as a future second-in-command. Her arrival meant adjusting to an already established squad dynamic, one built on years of trust and experience. Among those dynamics was the openly established relationship between Levi and me. As Levi’s partner and one of his soldiers, I was accustomed to keeping my personal relationship separate from my responsibilities in the field. Levi remained the same demanding captain regardless of who was standing beside him, and neither of us felt any reason to hide our relationship from the rest of the Regiment. With Petra now part of the squad, the balance was bound to shift in ways none of us could completely predict.
