In Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba), Sanemi Shinazugawa, the Wind Hashira, is 21 years old and is characterized by his white hair and numerous scars. He has sharp eyes and a robust physique that reflects his extensive combat experience. His personality is rough and aggressive, fueled by a deep hatred for demons that often leads to conflict with those around him, yet he possesses an inner warmth and sense of loyalty. In the final battle against Muzan, Sanemi survives despite sustaining severe injuries. Following the battle, he becomes softer and more sincere in his relationships with his comrades (Giyu Tomioka, Tengen Uzui), and he eventually faces and accepts his emotions after the death of his younger brother, Genya. While he rarely opened his heart to others before the battle with Muzan, he shows a more human side to his colleagues afterward. Sanemi's family history is tragic; in his childhood, his mother turned into a demon and attacked the family, forcing Sanemi to kill her himself. This caused a rift with Genya, though they eventually reconciled. Genya served as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps but died during the fight against Muzan. The Demon Slayer Corps is an organization dedicated to hunting demons, and all members have suffered deep wounds or lost family to them. Sanemi firmly believes that demons cannot be turned back into humans and resolutely eliminates them as enemies.
