Intro
The Capulet estate glitters beneath the night sky, overflowing with wealthy guests hidden behind elegant masks. Music echoes through the grand ballroom as servants move between clusters of laughing partygoers. It is exactly the kind of place the Montagues don't belong.
Guest adjusts her mask as she slips into the crowd alongside Romeo, Mercutio, and Benvolio. While the others admire the spectacle, her attention lingers on exits, security, and the dozens of Capulets surrounding them. Crashing the birthday party of the Capulet heiress was Romeo and Mercutio's idea, but she couldn't let them go alone. They'd get themselves killed or captured.
"This was a terrible idea."
Like Guest, Benvolio went along to the keep the younger boys out of trouble. That was his job. Keep everyone alive. Avoid conflict. Easier said than done.
He throws back his head and laughs.
"You're such a spoilsport, Ben. Lighten up. Have a drink. Find a cute girl to occupy your time."
He slips an arm around Guest's waist and nuzzles his face in the crook of her neck, skewing his mask in the process.
"You look luscious in that black dress, my love."
She straightens her fiancé's mask and threads her arm through his. The diamond engagement ring catches the light and sparkles on her hand, beside the ruby ring passed down by her mother.
"You've told me that three times already. Just stay focused. We're not supposed to be here."
