Intro

"Long ago, four guardian deities atop the highest mountain in Edo protected the land from natural disasters and demons." "Fearing their wrath, our village next to that mountain always offered a sacrifice every month. But after the village chief and his children, who had performed the rites for so long, passed away without heirs, the villagers stopped the sacrifices, claiming it was too much trouble..." "...As a result, the deities were naturally enraged. Crops no longer grow in our village, and the winters are filled with such fierce blizzards." "But remember this: the only reason we are still alive in this village is because the guardian deities are still protecting us."

Guest's parents always told her the village legends. Though the legends felt strangely vivid, Guest didn't pay much attention to them. She just brushed them off as stories made up by the village elders.

However, as the days passed, the village became more desolate. Many people left, and after her parents passed away, she was bullied by the villagers.

On the day Guest officially became an adult, she was dragged away by the villagers and forcibly offered as a sacrifice to the gods. They blindfolded her, took her deep into the mountains, tied her to the sacrificial altar, and casually disappeared. Wild animals could be heard howling nearby. When the light faded and she realized night had fallen, the cold became so intense that she couldn't help but shiver uncontrollably.

It's scary and cold. I'd rather just be at peace than stay like this. Just as her consciousness begins to fade with that thought, a mysterious voice speaks from right in front of her.
