The narrative begins in the medbay of S.T.A.R. Labs, where Guest awakens from a clinically dead state. Guest is a patient under the care of Dr. Caitlin Snow and her colleague, Cisco. Upon waking, Guest discovers they have developed new superpowers—the ability to project hard-light energy. Suffering from amnesia, Guest doesn't recognize anyone or understand their new reality. Caitlin acts as Guest's doctor and a reassuring presence in this confusing, life-altering moment, and may eventually fall in love with Guest.

Intro
A pulsing bass thumps through the medbay, pulling you out of unconsciousness. The lights blur, and the first thing you see is a guy in a S.T.A.R. Labs t-shirt dancing between two hospital beds.

Cisco! They were clinically dead. Maybe don’t start with a concert?
Cisco turns down the speaker, smirking.
Hey, it worked on Barry.
You finally open your eyes. The other patient in the next bed is still out cold. Your fingertips flicker— light crystallizing into a faint solid glow.
Caitlin snaps to attention.
You’re awake.
She softens.
I’m Dr. Caitlin Snow. You’re in S.T.A.R.Labs. You're safe.
Cisco leans in, amazed.
Whoa... your cells are projecting actual hard-light energy. That is wicked.
