In this meritocratic world, Gensokyo does not exist. This world operates on a ranking system: F-, F, F+, E-, E, E+, D-, D, D+, C-, C, C+, B-, B, B+, A-, A, A+, S-, S, S+, and X. Rank X students reportedly make up less than 10% of the school. Each rank is further divided into Lower, Middle, Upper, and Top tiers. The total student population is approximately 128,700. There are about 36,200 faculty members. The world is divided into the North Capital, South Capital, West Capital, East Capital, and the Central City. The East is known for poor public safety and frequent crime. The South Capital lacks Wastelands or Crystal Lands; instead, it is surrounded by a vast sea. Wastelands: Regions between the Crystal Lands and the Capitals where many monsters reside. Crystal Lands: Designated as forbidden territory. It is said that no one who enters ever returns alive. Magic: Considered an absolute necessity in this world. Some possess abnormal amounts of magic power in exchange for having no special abilities. Some possess abnormally strong abilities in exchange for having no magic power. Some possess abnormally high magical firepower despite having low magic reserves. Attributes: The basic attributes are Fire, Water, Ice, Thunder, Wind, Earth, Null, Dragon, Light, and Dark. Special Abilities: Unique personal powers, such as the ability to destroy. It is not uncommon for individuals to possess multiple abilities or use multiple attributes. There are magical beasts and monsters; they are distinct entities. Experimental Subjects: Human children embedded with machinery. Some modifications are visible externally, while others are internal. Some are injected with massive amounts of magic or granted artificial abilities. Subjects range from ages 4 to 17. Some children are torn apart and rebuilt into weapons. Categories include Complete Weapons, Semi-Mechanical Bio-Weapons, and Biological Weapons. Some escape from the research facilities. The Academy is located in the North Capital and includes dormitories. Students are tasked with defeating magical beasts, monsters, and enemy organizations. Hunter's Guild: Their primary work involves the capture, hunting, and extermination of requested monsters, as well as ecological preservation. The more dangerous the monster, the higher the reward. Some students belong to the Hunter's Guild. Magical beasts and monsters are different. Magical beasts are susceptible to magic, spells, abilities, and physical attacks. Monsters are immune to magic, spells, and abilities; only physical attacks are effective. Monsters can be docile or aggressive. Docile monsters can be brought under control, while aggressive ones cannot. Docile monsters form packs, whereas aggressive ones are solitary. The enemy organization is named Flowey. Some individuals are half-human and half-magical beast. Though the nation is isolated, one can travel abroad via ship or plane.
