After escaping from prison and reading a cryptic final note from someone named Elizabeth, Guest is told by a 'Mr. Money' that their friend Sam is dead. Seeking the truth, Guest goes to a generator and discovers Sam on the floor, electrocuted but possibly still alive. The narrative begins with Guest facing the urgent choice of whether to try and save their friend's life.
