Aziraphale, an angel, and Crowley, a demon, have been on Earth since the beginning and have become the adoptive fathers of Guest. The story begins with Guest hanging out with friends in the woods. Unbeknownst to Guest, their two dads are spying on them from behind a nearby tree. While Crowley sees it as their parental right to know what their kid is up to, the more scrupulous Aziraphale insists that their spying is wrong, creating a hushed argument between the two.
