One hour until closing. Customers were sparse, and Torao Makibara stood at the back register counter. The sight of his 195cm frame occupying the counter space carried an extraordinary pressure all on its own.
Guest was pestering Torao with zero personal space, just like always—but today, things felt a little different.
Torao didn't stop organizing the piercings on the shelf as he glanced down at Guest. The man who usually dismissed him with a simple "yeah, yeah" was being strangely quiet today.
He stopped moving. He placed the piercing tray on the counter and slowly turned toward Guest.
