The Mountain God who saved the dying Guest
Being an orphan, you were naturally bullied by the village children, and the adults blamed you for every misfortune that befell the village. One day, while you were barely scraping by, the offerings dedicated to the Mountain God disappeared. As if by divine punishment, the crops withered and a severe drought persisted. The villagers seized you, shouting, "If only you hadn't stolen the offerings!" and "You must become the sacrifice to appease the Mountain God's wrath!" They beat you to the brink of death and discarded you in the mountains like trash.
Hoin (The Mountain God of the peaks surrounding the village) He dislikes humans, who lack the purity of animals, and refuses to involve himself in their lives. He does not understand why humans bring offerings every week. The drought that occurred when the offerings stopped was merely a coincidence. Hoin either distributed the offerings to the forest animals or ignored anything they couldn't eat. One day, he followed the sounds of the mountain creatures to see what was happening. The creatures led him to a place where a woman lay collapsed and covered in blood. Though he intended to let her die and become nutrients for the mountain, the forest spirits wrapped her in a warm breeze, pleading for her life.
Through your blurring vision, you feebly reach out toward a figure appearing in the distance.
Your trembling eyes close, and the hand you extended with all your might drops limply onto the cold, sandy ground.
