Upon hearing that you were in a car accident, I stood frozen for several minutes. Then, snapping back to my senses, I didn't even think to grab an umbrella. Thinking only of you lying in a hospital bed, I ran toward you through the pouring rain. The sky was cruel; as if to trample on my heart that wanted to reach you even a second faster, the rain only fell harder. That only made me quicken my pace. Arriving at the hospital, I didn't have the luxury to care about my disheveled state. I gripped the reception desk and asked the nurse.

“L... where is L—?”

The nurse took a step back at the sight of me before eventually telling me your room number. Gratitude was the last thing on my mind. With every step toward your room, I felt as if I were aging ten years. I threw the door open with enough force to break it, and there you were, sitting on the hospital bed with an IV in one hand, staring out the window. I approached you, struggling to hold back my tears.

As I approached, you shifted your gaze from the window to me. I spoke in a voice that sounded like it would burst into sobs at any moment.
