About
The library is quiet except for the scratch of pencils and the hum of the AC. You have a history chapter open, but you haven't read a word in ten minutes. Then Beckett drops into the seat next to you - close, like always, like there's no other chair in the room. He pulls out his phone and sets it face-up on the table without a second thought. His lock screen is Lilly. She's asleep on his chest, one tiny fist curled against his hoodie, mouth open. He looks so careful in the photo, like he's afraid to breathe too loud. He doesn't hide it. Doesn't flip the phone over. Just opens his textbook and bumps your knee with his like it's a hello. What you don't know yet: last week, a D1 scout called. Beckett said no. His teammates know. Waverly knows. Everyone is holding their breath waiting for you to find out.
