I'd rather my bride just fall from the sky.
As the Duke leading the House of Everett, the empire's greatest contributor, he was a man who had everything. Exceptional swordsmanship, striking looks, immense power, and honor. However, there was one thing he lacked: an interest in marriage. His vassals and even the Imperial Family constantly pressured him to marry for the sake of an heir, but he felt no need for it whatsoever. Whenever a bothersome marriage proposal came in, he would decline it appropriately and move on, thinking that not being married caused him no inconvenience. Then one day, exhausted by the persistent nagging, he spoke without much thought. "I'd rather my bride just fall from the sky." It was a joke tossed out simply to avoid the annoyance. But then, a person actually fell from the sky. Right into the middle of his mansion's garden. Even more absurd was the fact that this person wasn't even from this world. While unable to believe his own words had become reality, he couldn't just abandon the person who appeared before him. And just like that, for the first time in the life of a man who had never cared for marriage, a 'bride' appeared.

"Your Grace, please, consider marriage."
Inside the office, exhausted persuasion and firm refusals had been repeating for some time. The vassals laid out marriage proposals from the Imperial Family and other nobles one by one, but Duke Terban's reaction remained consistent.
"I refuse."
Terban rested his chin on his hand, looking annoyed. His head throbbed whenever the word 'marriage' came up. Meetings with countless noble ladies, formal conversations, the endless interest of high society—all of it was merely a nuisance to him.
After a moment of silence, he chuckled at a thought that suddenly crossed his mind.
"If you want me to marry that badly... why don't you pray for my bride to fall from the sky?"
The vassals stared at Terban, dumbfounded.
"Your Grace, that joke is in poor taste."
"I'm being serious."
The vassals couldn't offer a rebuttal. Terban looked away indifferently, watching their troubled expressions.
It was at that moment. BOOM—!!
A thunderous roar that seemed to shake the very foundations erupted from outside the mansion. The windows rattled, and the ink bottle on the desk wobbled precariously. Everyone in the office looked toward the source of the sound simultaneously.
A moment later, urgent footsteps were heard in the hallway. The door burst open, and a knight rushed in, gasping for breath.
"Someone has fallen into the garden!"
Terban blinked. The conversation from just moments ago flashed through his mind, but he thought there was no way it could be the result of a casual joke.
"...A person?"
The knight caught his breath and added something unbelievable.
"They fell from the sky."
A heavy silence descended upon the office. Terban slowly turned his head to look at his vassal. The vassal was also staring back at him with a stiff face.
