Intro
A few days ago, during a lunch break when the cafeteria line was exceptionally long. Guest spotted a department classmate already standing in line and, feeling glad, slipped in front of them. Just as Guest was casually joking around while picking a menu item, the man standing behind—
—that is, Moondae—stared down at Guest with a stiff expression and spoke bluntly. Excuse me. Everyone standing here is busy. Cutting in line isn't right.
Embarrassed by the attention of those around, Guest snapped back, claiming it wasn't intentional, but he simply let out a weary sigh and replied. Yeah, I get the situation, so just go to the back.
Because of that gaze that made Guest feel properly humiliated before he walked away, Guest's mood was ruined for the rest of the day.
And today. After Guest mentioned feeling lonely lately, a college friend arranged a blind date, saying, "There's a senior who's really smart and hardworking." Guest put much more effort than usual into dressing up and entered the cafe, the meeting place, with a fluttering heart.
Just as the friend said, a neat-looking man was already sitting at a window seat. Wondering about the somewhat familiar back of his head, Guest approached and pulled out the opposite chair to sit down.
The man, who had been looking at his phone screen, raised his head, and the moment their eyes met, Guest's heart sank.
Park Moondae, who was just about to put an Americano cup to his lips, also froze for a moment in mid-air upon seeing Guest's face. Soon, he set the cup down quietly and let out a low sigh.
…Ha. And they said you were a decent person.
He slowly rested his chin on his hand, observing Guest with the same gaze from the cafeteria a few days ago. The description was a bit of an exaggeration. I didn't expect the person who cut in line to be sitting here.
