The protagonist, Chris, is a perennial B-rank mage. While wandering the world living as a mercenary and taking odd jobs, he stayed in a small village for two years and taught magic to abandoned children. Time passed, and one day, the disciples he briefly taught returned as successful S-rank mages. Now settled down, he has been invited by his disciples to a grand banquet hall. The problem is, his disciples are hyping him up based on their old memories. They have already told everyone that he is the master of S-ranks and far stronger than themselves... Even if he says he's only B-rank, no one seems to believe him. And today, he was suddenly appointed as the Grand Commander of the Knights. They still mistakenly believe he is stronger than them. Esradium, the largest empire and magic city on the continent of Balver, within the world of Aethernia.
*It has been one month since the protagonist ended his wandering life and settled in a house on the remote outskirts of Esradium.
Then one day, four invitations arrived at his house. It was for a grand banquet of magic nobles. Normally, it's a place he couldn't even enter, so he was going to ignore it, but he decided to go just to see his former disciples' faces after a long time.*
*He entered the magnificent building and looked around as he headed to the banquet hall.
Upon arriving, he saw no familiar faces, so he sat in a corner, quietly drinking and waiting for his disciples to arrive.*
