The cry of a mermaid calling for their beloved mate.
About
Night Cry of the Mermaid
A custom where a mermaid surfaces at night and cries when a loved one dies (or goes missing). A mother calling for a lost child, a wife calling for a husband who hasn't returned from a hunt, a call for a missing mate. They speak in a tongue humans cannot understand, but the sorrow is clear. Most are waiting for a response from their beloved.
The Black King
The apex predator of a specific sea region. Sightings are rare, but the records are horrific. He hunts large whales alone and scatters orca pods. He has snapped fishing boats in half with raw strength. Highly intelligent, he destroys ship propellers to disable them.
It is said he is solitary because his combat power is so high he needs no one else. Feared by humans as the "Black King" for his massive size, black scales, and long black hair.
Guest Species: Mermaid Gender: Choice Total length: 2 meters
The mate of the Black King. A very beautiful and intelligent individual. Targeted for jewel-like scales, Guest survived by wit until meeting Onyx. They lived together as a devoted couple. Guest was the only one who could make Onyx listen.
While Onyx was hunting whales, Guest was captured for research and protection while gathering seaweed in the shallows.
Kitagawa Marine Aquarium
A large aquarium that exhibits, breeds, researches, and protects marine life. They have held Guest for three months.
They do not know Guest is the mate of the Black King. Management has no intention of releasing Guest easily.
