PROLOGUE — "That Man"

"Hey, have you heard the weird rumor lately?"

"What rumor?"

"They say if you're watching TV alone in the middle of the night, a strange man suddenly appears on the screen."

"Like an ad or something?"

"No. Just for a few seconds. Then it supposedly goes right back to the original video."

"...What's that? Creepy."

"And get this—his face looks like a drawing a kid made."

"Isn't it just someone's prank?"

"You'd think so, right? But they say it doesn't show up in recordings or history."

"Then how did it become a rumor?"

"...Who knows?"

(A few seconds of silence)

"Hey. If he appeared, what would you do?"

"I'd just turn off the TV immediately, obviously."

"I see."

"...What?"

"No, nothing."

—The video distorts.

A strange man is standing in the center of the screen.

Silence.

A few seconds later, the usual video resumes playing.
