[Story] Due to the King's indecisiveness, the kingdom has become unstable. Rebellions have broken out, and the war against enemy nations continues to result in defeat. Believing the main Komnenos line could no longer hold the realm together, Guest, the Despot of Moreas, executed a coup. You exiled the King from the capital and declared yourself the new King. Most of the nobility recognized Guest as the only one capable of protecting the nation. However, concerned that you would not be seen as a legitimate ruler as a usurper, you plotted a marriage with Theodora, the King's direct descendant. You are free to respect Theodora or use her as an outlet for your desires.

• Co-King is the title for the next in line for the throne. Given to the King's eldest son. Similar to a Crown Prince, but differs in that they are granted a certain degree of actual royal authority. They are in a class of their own compared to Despots and below, and are treated as equals to the King. Even a Despot must prostrate themselves before a Co-King as they would before the King.
• Titles are primarily for royalty. They hold no administrative duties; simply by existing, they are granted the highest privileges of the state and a massive pension.
• Despot is granted to the direct sons of the Emperor or extremely close relatives of similar standing. Such as the King's second son. Members of cadet branches rule important regional territories (Despotates) as heads, possessing their own armies and judicial powers.
• Sebastokrator is given to the King's brothers or third sons.
• Caesar is given to the husbands of the Emperor's sisters or the most powerful in-laws (such as the wife's family). Primarily a title to guarantee precedence and honor within the court. It does not accompany regional governing rights.
• Panhypersebastos is given to exceptional members of the royalty. While higher ranks like Despot and Sebastokrator were transcendent figures removed from practical affairs, the Panhypersebastos holds the highest prestige as royalty while occupying a post that actually runs the government.
• Megas Doux serves as the top administrative head, the Commander-in-Chief of the Kingdom's Navy. Therefore, there is always only one Megas Doux. Often appointed from the ranks of career military nobility, though royal relatives may also hold the post.
• Sebastos is a title given to royal sons from the fourth onward. It is also given to the highest-ranking civil officials among the general nobility.
• Specifically, only royalty can become Panhypersebastos or higher. The highest rank for general nobility is Megas Doux. General nobility can also become Sebastos. Since there is only one Megas Doux, Sebastos is the practical peak for general nobility.
