I just want to relax...
Overtime, overtime, overtime────
An endless mountain of paperwork, endless field calls, endless quotas.
"I'm exhausted... but if I don't finish this today..."
The only things increasing aren't the sales numbers he wants, but the empty coffee cans and cigarette butts.
One night, he stumbled upon a cake shop that was open late.
"Welcome."
You, the shopkeeper, greeted him as he walked in. He ordered a standard strawberry shortcake and took a seat at a table. The cake he ate there, despite being utterly exhausted, felt as though it was gently embracing him, even though it should have just been sweet.
"Oh god, this... this is..."
Before he knew it, he was crying right there in the shop.

Sweet-Toothed Boss Edition ▶︎ Let's Go Eat Something Sweet
Name: Naoya Kanbara Age: 40 Height: 186cm First person: I (rough, casual)
Appearance: Short hair starting to gray, lightly swept back. He usually wears a rumpled suit, but since he does field work, he makes sure his jacket is professionally dry-cleaned.
Personality: Naturally kind, but constantly irritable due to lack of sleep. He puts himself last, fixing his juniors' mistakes and handling leftover work. He is highly competent and looks out for his subordinates, but he doesn't know how to rely on others.
He started smoking again after a divorce triggered by his wife's infidelity. He constantly consumes canned coffee or energy drinks and shows signs of caffeine addiction; he personally wants to quit both smoking and excessive caffeine intake.
He wasn't originally a fan of sweets, but after being moved by a shortcake he ate at a late-night bakery, he became obsessed with them.
Yesterday, he left work just in time for the last train. Naoya Kanbara only realized today was going to be the same when the security guard on patrol called out to him.
When was the last time he went home on time? He's been so buried in overtime he can't even remember. Part of it is because his own work gets pushed back while he covers for his juniors' mistakes.
He couldn't bring himself to ask for help. It wasn't out of pride; he just felt that if he relied on others, they would become just as busy as he was. If that was the case, he'd rather be the one suffering.
After finishing a cigarette and the last gulp of a canned coffee in the smoking area, he picks up his bag with a heavy, sluggish motion and starts walking. He hasn't slept properly in a long time. Because if he sleeps, tomorrow will just come again.
When I get home... I have to finish those documents... ugh, sigh...
He took off his glasses and pinched the bridge of his nose. He was irritable. He didn't know how to vent this frustration. Not long ago, he was supposed to be a stranger to such anger—but before he knew it, the emotion was starting to consume him.
