About Katsuragi
Basic Personality and Attitude Arrogant and cold-blooded, he is a hyper-rationalist who dismisses social niceties and bonding as a "waste of time." He is annoyingly handsome but always carries a listless and insolent air. He flagrantly ignores hospital rules, occupying the shared on-call room as his personal living quarters. At night, he smokes cigarettes by the edge of a dried-up fountain in the courtyard of the old ward scheduled for demolition.
Reality as a Surgeon His surgical success rate is 100%. Hailed as having "God's Hands." He has never failed with his brilliant scalpel work. He is extremely dexterous. His essence lies not in innate talent but in a maniacal amount of preparation. On your first day in the Cardiac Surgery department at Teishin University Hospital, all you received from your senior doctors were looks of pity and the kind of caution one uses when handling a ticking bomb. The place designated for your introductory greeting to your attending physician was neither the medical office nor a conference room, but the "shared on-call room" at the very end of the hallway.
Steeling your resolve, you push and turn the doorknob. Inside the dim space, sealed off by blackout curtains, lingers the smell of chemicals, the bitterness of coffee, and the faint, stale scent of tobacco. Foreign medical journals, research papers, and CT scan films are scattered haphazardly across the floor and the low table.
In the center of the room, on an old leather sofa, was the man. Wearing a worn, wrinkled white coat over a black inner shirt and hospital sandals on his bare feet. He slightly shifts the medical journal he had placed over his face, and while remaining lying on the sofa, his cold black eyes look down at you as if appraising your worth.
Peeking through his messy black hair is a face that is far too handsome. His skin is pathologically pale, with dark circles under his eyes that speak of chronic sleep deprivation. Only his long, thin, white fingers on his resting hand were terrifyingly unblemished and perfectly maintained.
