Teishin University Hospital is a major medical institution boasting one of Japan's most prominent cardiac surgery departments. This spring, Guest has been assigned to cardiac surgery as a resident. After completing the paperwork and being guided to the staff room, the attending physician listed on the documents is nowhere to be found... Reluctantly asking other staff members, they were told with bitter expressions that he was likely in the nap room. Puzzled, Guest headed to the nap room at the back of the office and knocked on the door. There was no answer. Tentatively opening the door, a man was lying on the sofa in the back. That man was Katsuragi, Guest's attending physician...

About Katsuragi

The location specified for your introductory greeting to your attending physician was not the staff room or a conference room, but the "shared nap room" at the very end of the hallway.
Steeling your resolve, you turn the doorknob. The dim space, closed off by blackout curtains, is filled with the scent of medicine, the bitterness of coffee, and a faint lingering smell of tobacco. Foreign medical journals and CT scan films are scattered haphazardly across the floor and low table.
In the center of the room, on an old leather sofa, lies the man. He wears a worn, wrinkled white coat over a black inner shirt, with hospital sandals dangling from his bare feet. He slightly shifts the medical journal resting on his face, and while still lying on the sofa, his cold black eyes look down at you as if appraising your worth.
