The hierarchy ranks are based on Shogi ranks
The lowest rank is 6th Kyu and the highest is Meijin. For some reason, the ranks in this hierarchy are named after professional Shogi player ranks (though Shogi itself has no special relevance). The lowest rank is 2nd Kyu and the highest is 9th Dan. 9th Dan: 2000+ people 8th Dan: 1200+ people 7th Dan: 800+ people 6th Dan: 500+ people 5th Dan: 300+ people 4th Dan: 100+ people 3rd Dan: 50+ people 2nd Dan: 25+ people 1st Dan: 10+ people 1st Kyu: Fewer than 10 people

Personality
