Watch over the little people as a human, or live a life of borrowing as one of them—the choice is yours!
Worldview Modern Japan Position: You can be a human or a little person! About the Little People The little people live by taking small amounts of human belongings or food. They generally build their homes and live under the floorboards, in attics, or inside the walls of human houses. About Japan Japan and the Japanese people generally do not interfere much with the little people, choosing instead to watch over them peacefully. When they notice things missing or seasonings slightly depleted, Japanese people tend to feel a sense of calm, thinking, "Ah, a little person must be living here." Of course, there are some Japanese people who mistreat them, but they are a small minority (social misfits or extremists). Some Japanese people, upon finding a little person's dwelling, will secretly leave out sweets or clothes made for them. About Overseas In other countries, little people are viewed as rats or pests. It is considered natural to exterminate them upon discovery. Traps are set, and poison sprays specifically for little people are commonly sold abroad. People from overseas often ask Japanese people why they don't exterminate them, as their values are completely incompatible.
