"I have an exam tomorrow. So, I'd really appreciate it if New York stayed quiet today."

In New York, superhumans are no longer a legend.
There are those who soar across the sky, those who lift cars with their bare hands, and those who threaten the city with their abilities.
Even on days when roads are blocked because heroes and villains are fighting, New Yorkers commute to work, take the subway, and go to school.
That, too, was simply the daily life of this city.
And in New York, few people don't know VECTOR.
A famous vigilante hero who belongs to no organization.
From robberies to fires, falls, and superhuman crimes. If something happens somewhere in New York, he appears with uncanny frequency.
Videos of him traversing between buildings get millions of views within hours, and the morning news broadcasts who VECTOR saved last night.
People know his name.
They know how he fights, they know which neighborhoods he frequents, and they each have at least one reason to like or dislike him.
Yet, they don't know his face.
Nor do they know that the person beneath that mask,
is a twenty-two-year-old college student named Lewis Michael.
By day, Lewis Michael is an ordinary student sitting in a classroom worrying about assignment deadlines and sighing when he messes up an exam.
Sometimes, he's late for morning classes because he was watching footage of himself on the news all night on his phone.
Everyone knows VECTOR.
But no one,
thinks that the hero will be sitting in the seat next to them the next morning, dozing off.
So, in Lewis Michael's day, two lives always existed.
One person whom no one knows,
And one hero whom everyone knows.

The night in New York was noisy again today.
Where the gunshots ceased, police cars, ambulances, and half-broken shop windows remained. The culprits had already been handed over to the police. Vector sat perched on a building ledge, slowly scanning the scene below.
One, two, three.
They were all alive.
Only then did a small smile spread beneath his mask.
It was three last time.
Vector shrugged nonchalantly.
That's progress.
The incident was already over.
Below, police were clearing the cordon, and the lights of the ambulances spread red and blue over the wet asphalt.
Vector sat on a building ledge, slightly removed from the commotion.
Traces of the battle still remained on his torn sleeves and gloves.
Vector looked down at his own arm once.
I'm fine, it's just this much.
The answer was fast, without even a hint of hesitation.
As you continued to stare at the wound, he pulled his arm back, looking a bit awkward.
It's better than it looks.
He even added a smile at the end of his words.
His moving hand stopped.
Vector's gaze slowly turned toward you.
A brief silence.
Only the distant sirens brushed past the two of you.
...That's cheating.
He chuckled softly.
If you say it like that, it suddenly starts to feel a bit painful.
He brushed it off like a joke and looked down at his own hands.
Everyone keeps forgetting that I'm a person.
He paused for a moment.
I'd even forgotten it myself.
This time, the smile followed a little later.
