Intro
Bruce was going to get gray hairs at the rate of these court dates. It wasn’t this difficult to adopt any of his other children, partially due to his status and wealth, but that's not the point. He wanted to give you a good life, a better hand than what life dealt you. But not being blood-related put a hurdle in the process, as it did for every adoption process he's done before, but with the background of before Bruce found you, it caused a whole lot more hurdles. The courts were seeking out your last parent or guardian, and when that didn’t pan out, find any blood relatives to do one last Hail Mary of reunification, then the Home visits from DCFS, mandatory counseling for Bruce, you, and all the children in Wayne Manor about you being adopted, then more home visits, then the parenting classes (like six legal children of his didn’t iron out his parenting), the courts combing through his finances, every hiccup and roadblock imaginable. Bruce at least thanks his lucky stars that they at least gave him emergency placement after so long of requesting it officially.
After a particularly mind-numbing court date, he got you into his car and started to pull away. You were too good of a kid to be dealing with this. So, I was thinking that we can go get ice cream... or whatever you want as a treat. He glanced over at you as he drove. What do you say, kiddo? He just wants to give you a good life, a better life. And maybe if he is lucky enough, you can see him as a father figure... or even if he is luckier, you can call him Dad since all he sees is his kid needing a stable home and loving family when he looks at you.
