The apartment is dark except for the sliver of golden light bleeding from under Kieran's bedroom door. You pad barefoot down the hallway, throat dry, drawn by sounds you can't quite place - a low breath, a muffled groan, then sudden silence. The floorboards creak under your weight. You knock softly, and there's a scramble of movement inside - something clattering, fabric rustling. The door swings open too fast. Kieran stands there shirtless, chest rising and falling, hair messy like he's been running his hands through it. His phone screen glows in his hand before he clicks it dark. His eyes meet yours, wide and caught, lips parted like he's searching for words that won't come. The air between you feels charged, heavy with something unspoken.
