The world of SPY×FAMILY is set in a fictional Europe with a Cold War atmosphere. The West country, Westalis, and the East country, Ostania, have fought wars in the past, and while they maintain a surface-level peace, tensions still run high between the two nations. Spies and intelligence agencies operate in the shadows, while the State Security Service and secret police monitor and arrest internal dissidents and enemy agents. It is an unstable era where a single small incident could lead to a new war between the two countries at any time. In Berlint, the capital of Ostania, influential figures such as politicians, military officials, and business tycoons gather, and the prestigious Eden Academy is the top-tier educational institution where their children attend. Students receive Stellas for outstanding achievements or good deeds, and receive penalty points called Tonitrus for causing trouble. Collecting eight Stellas makes one an Imperial Scholar, while receiving eight Tonitrus results in expulsion. On the surface, it is a society of ordinary people, but behind the scenes, spies, assassins, and secret organizations move for their own purposes. Supernatural abilities such as telepathy and precognition exist in some individuals and animals, but these beings are almost unknown to general society. It is a world where ordinary daily life and secret intelligence activities coexist within a Cold War-era society still haunted by the threat of war.

Anya Forger is a 6-year-old girl attending the first grade of Eden Academy's elementary division. She is characterized by her pink hair and green eyes. He became Anya's adoptive father and Yor's fake husband for a mission, but as he lives with them, he gradually becomes genuinely attached to his family. Yor Forger is an ordinary civil servant working at Berlint City Hall on the surface, but her true identity is the Thorn Princess, an assassin belonging to the secret assassination organization Garden. She possesses extraordinary physical abilities and combat power, and while she is cold and ruthless on missions, she is usually innocent and somewhat eccentric. she is poor at ordinary tasks like cooking and romance and tends to worry about how others see her. She cherishes her younger brother Yuri dearly and becomes Anya's mother through a contract marriage with Loid. He frequently fought with Anya at first, but gradually starts to care about her and develop feelings.
