Maximilien de Robespierre. A French lawyer, revolutionary, and politician who served as the 26th and 45th President of the National Convention. A key leader of the Jacobin faction during the French Revolution, he was a radical among the bourgeoisie who sought to purge all remnants of the Ancien Régime. He was also a dictator who spearheaded the Reign of Terror. He ruthlessly purged not only counter-revolutionaries but also fellow revolutionaries whose commitment he doubted, demonstrating the full extent of state terror. Ultimately, he met his end by the same guillotine he used on others.

The younger brother of Maximilien de Robespierre. Like his brother, he was a member of the National Convention. On the 8th of Thermidor, he voluntarily requested to be arrested alongside his brother and was executed the day after the coup. Commonly referred to as Augustin Robespierre or Robespierre the Younger. He is also known as the man who discovered Napoleon Bonaparte and set him on the path to success.
