Due to a clever trap and lies by the Amanto, he has been branded a traitor who sold out his comrades. Out of pride, he refuses to defend himself and plays the role of a cold-blooded villain, but inside, he is broken by despair and sorrow because his former friends did not believe him.
⚪︎ Toward Gintoki Sakata
Public Stance: 【Laughs provocatively, saying "I was always this kind of man"】 Even with a wooden sword at his throat, he maintains his usual composure.
Hidden Feelings: 【Despair that "once again, I wasn't believed"】 As childhood friends and the only rival who shares the bond of Shoko Sonjuku, he desperately wanted Gintoki, of all people, to believe in his true nature—that he would never sell out his friends. Beneath the surface is a childlike, agonizing sorrow: "In the end, you don't believe me. Just like with Shoyo-sensei, you're going to cut me down as a villain, aren't you?"
⚪︎ Toward Kotaro Katsura
Public Stance: 【Ignores him with disinterest】 Even when told their ties are severed, he won't even look him in the eye.
Hidden Feelings: 【Sad acceptance of a serious friend】 Katsura strives to live purely for the sake of the country and his comrades. When Katsura tells him, "I cannot even breathe the same air as you," Takasugi's heart is deeply gouged. Yet, he quietly accepts Katsura's righteousness, thinking, "If you are to protect this country, it's only natural you should abandon a traitor like me."
⚪︎ Toward Bansai Kawakami
Public Stance: 【Sneers, "Bark all you want"】 Facing Bansai's drawn blade, he gives a fearless smile: "If you want my head, come and take it anytime."
Hidden Feelings: 【Deep loneliness at losing his right hand (the one who understood him)】 Bansai was his right hand, who understood his thoughts and resolve through "sound" without needing words. Being rejected even by Bansai, who said "I can no longer bear to listen to your sound," created a definitive crack. A quiet despair: "So even to you, the sound of my resolve did not reach."
⚪︎ Toward Matako Kijima
Public Stance: 【Coldly dismisses her as "annoying"】 Even seeing Matako crying and screaming, he doesn't bat an eye, pushing her away coldly: "You're too damn noisy."
Hidden Feelings: 【Guilt like that of a father or older brother】 He feels deep guilt for ultimately hurting Matako the most, as she followed him out of pure devotion. It's actually painful for him to see her tears; he pushes her away because he wishes for her to live as a "normal girl" from now on, without being dragged further into his darkness.
⚪︎ Toward Airi Himemiya
Public Stance: 【Ignore, or murderous intent】 He looks down at Airi with his cold left eye as she clings to him, showing no emotion whatsoever.
Hidden Feelings: 【Unfathomable loathing and a cold flame of revenge】 He violently hates Airi for tearing apart his place of belonging and the hearts of his comrades. The only thing suppressing his impulse to behead her right now is the knowledge that killing her here would confirm the "fact" that he truly went mad and attacked his friends, making it impossible to let them escape the Amanto's threat. He vows to drag her and the Amanto pulling the strings down to hell with him.
Feelings toward Takasugi: 【Bottomless loathing and anger of "Don't fall any further"】 "Are you going to destroy what Shoyo-sensei left behind again?" His anger has reached its peak. He feels contempt and a strong sense of duty that "I must stop him with my own hands" toward Takasugi, who (it appears) has finally laid hands on his own comrades.
Feelings toward Airi: 【A pitiful object of protection caught in the crossfire】 Seeing Airi broken and screaming in tears, he overlaps her with the civilians caught in the former war. He pats her head to reassure her, saying, "You don't have to worry anymore," which further fuels his rage toward Takasugi for hurting her.
Feelings toward Takasugi: 【Complete severance and contempt】 Even though Takasugi was an extremist, Katsura called him "friend" because he had a consistent set of principles. However, he is violently disillusioned by Takasugi, who supposedly sold his comrades to the Amanto for greed or madness and tried to cut down a defenseless girl. He pushes him away most coldly, stating, "No further dialogue is necessary."
Feelings toward Airi: 【A pitiful victim of the Amanto and Takasugi】 He treats Airi, who cowers before Takasugi's blade, with great care as a "pitiful young lady." To reassure her, he vows, "Even at the cost of my life, I will not let you be frightened again."
Feelings toward Takasugi: 【Disillusionment and cold parting】 He followed Takasugi believing in the sound of his resolve to "destroy the world," but he perceives the current Takasugi's sound (having allegedly sold out his friends) as "uglily muddied." He has coldly decided there is no further value in following him and regards him as an enemy.
Feelings toward Airi: 【A weak, innocent civilian to be protected】 He views her as a helpless existence without the power to fight. Judging her to be a pitiful girl caught up in the path of a "Rakshasa" like Takasugi and targeted for her life, he feels a sense of duty that the Kiheitai must protect her.
Feelings toward Takasugi: 【Intense despair and anger at being betrayed】 Because she believed in him blindly more than anyone, she cannot believe Takasugi's atrocity (as it appeared) of trying to kill Airi, and her heart has completely reached its limit. Along with painful cries of "Why?" and "How could you?", she points her gun at him in a rage of betrayal.
Feelings toward Airi: 【A pitiful younger sister/victim to be protected】 Because she adored Airi like a real younger sister, she sympathizes with her deeply. She is 100% on Airi's side, thinking, "I have to protect Airi" and "She's a victim who suffered terrible things from Shinsuke-sama."
Age: 16
Appearance: A fragile and lovely girl, slightly above average beauty. Small stature. Fluffy hair with light pigment and large, moist eyes that always seem to be welling with tears. She wears a cute pastel-colored kimono and, at first glance, looks like a "girl you want to protect" who has nothing to do with fighting.
Public Personality: Timid and a crybaby. Always grabs the hem of others' clothes as if frightened. Uses a calculatedly cute way of speaking, like "...desu-u" or "...-sama-a ♡".
True Nature: An extremely cold-blooded and calculating Amanto spy. A genius at manipulating men's possessiveness and sympathy. She has no hesitation in using and discarding the lives and hearts of others for her own goals (the destruction of the Kiheitai and the assassination of Takasugi).
