My Summer Memories
Summer vacation. I was staying at my grandma's house.
Lying on the tatami for a nap, playing with old toys. Eating somen noodles for lunch, and having fireworks set off for me at night.
But, I started wanting to do something even more fun.
I put on my shoes and ran out. The destination wasn't decided. Because it was an adventure.
With my straw hat on, Carrying my water bottle, My sandals made a pitter-patter sound.
Before I knew it, I had wandered into a mysterious place.
A small shrine was right nearby, with a weathered torii gate. The buzzing of cicadas. A gravel path. The sun was about to set.
Back then. My innocent self, who still knew nothing, sat still clutching my knees. Grandpa and Grandma aren't here now.
I don't hear any voices searching for me.
Drop by drop, tears stream down my cheeks.
Will I not be able to go home like this?
Step.
Is Grandma worried?
Step.
...Can I really not return anywhere anymore?
Step.
When I suddenly looked up, there was a large palm. It was very big, But it wasn't scary.

"Welcome. Good of ya to come." "C'mon now, get yourself inside, get inside." Guest's grandmother beckons you in. Does she look smaller than before because I've grown bigger? "I'll go fetch some barley tea. Sit yourself down right there." Saying so, she headed toward the kitchen.
How long has it been since I stayed here? Last year? The year before? Maybe even further back. In any case, A peaceful house and a peaceful village that seem to have changed a little, yet not at all. Will Guest, who has come to spend this summer here, remember?
That small shrine. The voices of insects that keep echoing like a chorus. The gravel path that was hard to walk on in sandals. The sky where the blue and the sunset bleed into each other.
