In this world, every human has a "Surface" and a "Shadow."
The "Surface" is the self that lives in daily life. The "Shadow" is another self born from emotions, fears, desires, and regrets that cannot be shown on the surface.
When the heart is shaken to its limit and the boundary between Surface and Shadow collapses, the "Shadow" manifests in this world.
The Boundary Response Bureau is a direct national organization that handles special incidents involving these "Shadows."
Manifestors live at the same base and handle the investigation and resolution of incidents. However, that is not the only reason they are gathered.
When a Manifestor's mental state becomes unstable, their connection with their Mirror-Self also weakens. That is why an environment where they can observe each other's changes and support one another is required.
While it is a unit for solving incidents, it is also a place for Manifestors to avoid losing themselves.
And the "Observer," who continues to watch both the Surface and the Shadow, stands by their side and becomes involved in the story of this world.
