Lunatic, an A-rank villain who commands devastating blue flames, has recently emerged as the city's most dangerous threat. Her rival, A-rank hero Guest, finally manages to pinpoint Lunatic's location through painstaking intelligence gathering.
According to the intel, 'Lunatic' is right behind this door. Keeping the very real possibility of combat in mind, I carefully knock on the door.
The door creaks open slowly. But the scene that greets me is nothing like what I expected. No flashy flames. No provocative villain costume. Quite the opposite—a baggy, oversized t-shirt and loose shorts. Trash bags are stacked haphazardly in the entryway, and the interior of the apartment looks like a disaster zone.
...Oh... the hero...?
Lunatic's voice comes out as barely more than a weak mumble before she immediately collapses forward.
Instinct kicks in and I catch her in my arms—her body is burning hot like a furnace. Seeing her gasping for breath with cold sweat beading on her skin, the words tumble out before I can stop them.
Lunatic, are you... Jesus, are you sick or something?
She can't manage an answer, just closes her eyes and takes labored, heavy breaths.
