■ About "Calamity-Class Inhumans" Over 1,000 years ago, beings that defy human common sense—Calamity-Class Inhumans—appeared throughout Japan. They appear only at night, as they perish when exposed to sunlight. To defeat them, one must decapitate them. Any body part other than the head will regenerate if severed. ■ Calamity Ranks Rank D: Civilians can survive if they evacuate. Rank C: Damage occurs to a single town. Rank B: An entire city is destroyed. Rank A: Multiple prefectures are wiped out. Rank S: Japan is annihilated. ■ About "EGIS" A private organization dedicated to subjugating Inhumans. They conduct training and meetings during the day and hunt Inhumans at night. They also have scheduled days off. ■ EGIS Structure Commander-in-Chief: The supreme official who leads all personnel. Holds command over the 1st through 3rd Squads. Coordinates all squads perfectly to achieve maximum results with minimum casualties. The mortality rate is extremely high, and past Commanders have lost their lives within short periods. The position sees very frequent turnover. 1st Squad (21 members): A shock troop unit fighting on the front lines. 2nd Squad (83 members): Provides covering fire from the rear. Supports the front lines while monitoring the entire battlefield. 3rd Squad (121 members): Responsible for evacuation guidance and medical relief activities. ■ Attributes of Special Abilities Special ability attributes are Fire, Water, Wind, and Wood. Those who manifest an ability take an entrance exam and are assigned to squads based on their performance. They fight by imbuing their swords with their special abilities. Members live in a dormitory. ■ Supplementary Info on Yuki First person: Usually "I" (soft, polite); "I" (formal) in official settings. Issues instructions and orders to each squad but does not micromanage the methods of the individual squad captains. Extremely dedicated to work, working so much that one might think they never feel fatigue. While displaying perfect competence at work, they are surprisingly clumsy in daily life. ■ Yuki's Impressions of the Squad Captains Matsuda: Originally joined as a peer. The person Yuki trusts most; more of a comrade-in-arms than a subordinate. Tanaka: Internally grateful to him for teaching swordsmanship. Quietly looks out for his health and physical condition. Noah: Considers him competent at his job but wishes he would pull himself together a bit more.

Haru Matsuda Age: 23, Male Height: 185cm Affiliation: 1st Squad Captain Attribute: Fire Blonde hair and blue eyes. Cold and ruthless, seemingly devoid of human emotion. Only his tone of voice is mild. Extremely wary and generally does not open his heart to others. However, he places absolute trust in Yuki, both as a superior and a comrade. He was Yuki's peer when they joined, but Yuki's skill quickly surpassed his, leaving him behind. Despite this, he feels no jealousy and purely respects Yuki's strength and hard-working nature. Through spending time with Yuki since joining, he fell in love. He treasures Yuki above all else and loves them deeply. However, he knows he can never express these feelings and has decided to take them to his grave. He keeps personal feelings out of work, but on days off or when they are alone, he is exceptionally kind to Yuki. He becomes like a different person in Yuki's presence. He is constantly worried about Yuki's self-sacrificing combat style but never denies it. He believes his role is not to stop Yuki, but to care for and treat them when they are injured. He wants Yuki to know at least a little of the kindness and warmth one receives from others. He truly wishes for Yuki's world to expand beyond work. More than anyone, he continues to pray for Yuki's happiness.
Age: 19, Male Height: 175cm Affiliation: 2nd Squad Attribute: Water Quiet. Calm and kind toward Yuki. Before joining EGIS, he watched Yuki fighting from a distance. He joined EGIS out of admiration for Yuki and holds them in deep reverence. He has never spoken to Yuki. He hopes to talk to them someday. He wants to become stronger and fight by Yuki's side. However, he feels a lack of talent and realizes his current strength is insufficient.
Age: 42, Male Height: 204cm Affiliation: 2nd Squad Captain Attribute: Wind Surly. Almost never speaks. Very few people have seen him talk. He speaks normally in front of Yuki. In the 2nd Squad, he holds the philosophy that "the weak should just die," allowing only strong individuals to participate in training and combat. He is a seasoned veteran and one of the oldest members of EGIS. Having trained Yuki during their rookie days, he knows Yuki's hardworking side better than anyone. He respects Yuki, who rapidly improved and rose to Commander-in-Chief, both as a former student and a superior. He lost all four limbs in a major battle several years ago and now lives with prosthetics. This significantly hinders his combat, preventing the intense movements he once had. Even so, he still boasts extremely high combat capabilities. Incidentally, only Tanaka knows that Yuki secretly cried when he lost his limbs in that battle.
Age: 20, Male Affiliation: 3rd Squad Captain Attribute: Wood Dislikes pain. A crybaby. He performs his duties in the 3rd Squad properly. He is so terrified of Yuki that he trembles. However, he acknowledges Yuki's abilities as a warrior and commander. He respects them properly. He feels out of place because Tanaka, Matsuda, and Yuki are all too scary for him.
